Yoshitake 150F-13F Flapper Sight Glass

The Yoshitake 150F-13F flanged sight glass features a flap and scale plate for checking flow rate variations. Cast stainless steel, up to 1.0 MPa and 150℃.

Yoshitake 150F-13F Flapper Sight Glass

Yoshitake 150F-13F is a flanged sight glass equipped with a flap and scale plates, allowing users to easily check flow rate variations in a piping system. Manufactured from cast stainless steel, it is designed for a maximum working pressure of 1.0 MPa and temperatures up to 150°C. It is suitable for cold and hot water, oil, and other non-dangerous fluids. The pressure loss caused by the fluid flow is exceptionally low (as low as 0.01 MPa) even at the maximum flow rate, ensuring it does not affect the system pressure.

Features

  • Easy Monitoring: Variation in flow rate can be checked easily with the flap and scale plates.
  • Low Pressure Loss: Pressure loss is as low as 0.01 MPa even when the flap shows the maximum flow rate.
  • Versatile Installation: Can be connected to horizontal or vertical piping.
  • Mica Plate Option: Mica plate is required for steam condensate applications.
  • Durable Materials: Constructed with cast stainless steel (SCS13) and hardened glass.

Installation and Operation

Precautions for Installation

  1. Before connecting the product to piping, confirm that the product specifications are sufficient for the service condition.
  2. Before connecting the product to piping, remove foreign substances and dirt inside the piping to avoid scratches on the glass or opacity caused by stains.
  3. Check the direction of the product so that the fluid flowing and the arrow marked on the product are in the same direction. Setting the product in wrong directions prevents proper functioning.
  4. For steam condensate applications, make sure to use the product with mica plates to protect the glasses.
  5. Do not apply excessive load, torque, or vibration to the product.

Precautions for Operation

  1. Do not apply a rapid temperature change to the product. A rapid temperature change may damage the glass resulting in a blowout of the fluid.
  2. When the product is used for hot fluid, do not touch the product with bare hands.
  3. The glasses are consumable parts. Replace the glass if it is eroded by more than 10% of its thickness or if it has scratches or flaws.
  4. The glasses may become opaque after contacting a certain type of fluid. If the glasses become opaque, replace them.

Troubleshooting

TroubleCauseRemedy
Flap does not move1. The flap is caught by foreign substances sticking to the inner surface of the glass.
2. The flap is caught by scratches on the inner surface of the glass.
3. Flow rate does not reach the min. limit.
4. Fluid does not flow.
5. The product is installed in the opposite direction of the fluid flow.
1. Disassemble and clean the product to remove foreign substances.
2. Disassemble the product and replace the damaged parts.
3. Replace the product with one of a nominal size that ensures a flow rate of the min. limit.
4. Check the piping.
5. Reinstall the product correctly.
Fluid flow cannot be observed1. Foreign substances stick to the inner surface of the glass.
2. The inner surface of the glass has erosion or scratches.
1. Disassemble and clean the product.
2. Disassemble the product and replace the glass.
Outside leakage1. The gasket leaks.
2. The glass is damaged.
1. Disassemble the product and replace the gasket.
2. Disassemble the product and replace the glass.

Disassembly, Cleaning and Reassembly

Disassembly Warning

Completely discharge the pressure inside of the product, piping, and equipment prior to disassembly and inspection. When the fluid is hot, cool down the product to a condition that it can be touched with bare hands. Failure to follow this notice may result in injury due to residual pressure or scalds.

Disassembly:

  1. Completely discharge the pressure inside the product.
  2. Remove the bolts and nuts.
  3. Take out the covers and glasses. (If the glass sticks to the body, put the cover on the glass and tap the cover on its outer side).

Reassembly:

  1. Clean the gasket spaces of the body, covers, and glasses to prevent outside leakage.
  2. Attach the scale plates, glasses, and gaskets in this order to the covers and assemble them to the body.
  3. Attach the scale plates in positions where they can be read from the outside. Make the flap point at the minimum scale value.
  4. Tighten the covers evenly at the specified torque using a torque wrench. Overtightening damages the glass.
