Communication and Electrical Interfaces

The modular fieldbus gateway provides Industrial EtherNet network connectivity over an RJ45 physical interface. Supported industrial Ethernet protocols include:

  • PROFINET IO
  • EtherNet/IP
  • Modbus TCP
  • EtherCAT
  • CC-Link IE Field Basic

Nominal operating voltage is 24 V DC (±10%), with a rated current consumption of 3 A. Digital input modules 1 through 4 are not populated on this variant (0 DI).

Integrated Safety and Maintenance Features

Type 8652 includes hardware-integrated protective and maintenance mechanisms:

  • Integrated check valves: Factory-installed in exhaust channels 3 (R) and 5 (S) to prevent back-pressure surges and uncommanded cylinder or valve motion.
  • Pneumatic HotSwap: Integrated in channel 1 (P) to enable valve replacement during running system operation.

Hazardous Location and EX Compliance

When deployed under hazardous location designator PU17 or PX68 according to supplementary manual directives, Type 8652 satisfies ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, IECEx, and CCC (GB/T 3836-2021) standards.

Special Conditions for Hazardous Area Use

  • Cabinet enclosure: Must be mounted in an approved control cabinet providing at least IP54 protection for Group II Category 3G / Gc (gas) or IP6X / IP64 for Category 3D / Dc (dust).
  • Pollution degree: Permitted solely in environments of pollution degree 2 or better according to IEC 60664-1.
  • Transient surge protection: Overvoltage protection must prevent transients from exceeding 140% of the peak rated supply voltage.
  • Thermal limits: Temperature class T4 is maintained at maximum internal cabinet ambient temperature of +55 °C. The maximum outside surface temperature of the AirLINE Quick adapter must not exceed +80 °C.
  • Terminal disconnection: In potentially explosive atmospheres, 24 V DC power, SIA, EVS, and digital input terminals must never be connected or disconnected while energized.
  • Electrostatic precaution: Clean exterior plastic and metal surfaces only with a damp or antistatic cloth to prevent electrostatic discharge.

HotSwap in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres

Pneumatic HotSwap module removal and insertion is prohibited while an explosive atmosphere is present. HotSwap maintenance may be performed only after verifiable test instruments demonstrate that no hazardous atmosphere exists in the vicinity.
