Design and Materials of Construction

Type 7011 valves employ a direct-acting plunger design. The core guide tube and the stopper are welded together into a single hermetic assembly to ensure superior pressure containment, structural rigidity, and leak tightness under cyclic operation.

The slipped-over solenoid coil can be loosened by unscrewing the upper hex nut and rotated through 4 x 90° increments (or 2 x 180° increments when mounted on block manifolds), allowing flexible cable plug positioning within confined instrumentation enclosures.

Electrical Connection and Accessories

Article 20079888 is supplied with industrial standard form B plug pins and is designed to mate with BURKERT Type 2507 cable plugs. The delivery excludes the cable plug, which must be selected separately according to control voltage and indicator requirements.

Operating Performance and Response Times

Valve response times are measured according to DIN ISO 12238:2001 at +20 °C using 6 bar air pressure at the valve outlet. Opening corresponds to a pressure build-up from 0% to 10%, while closing corresponds to a pressure decay from 100% to 90%.

  • Opening time: 8 to 15 ms
  • Closing time: 10 to 17 ms
  • Continuous rating: 100% ED (continuous duty) at ambient temperatures up to +55 °C
  • DC coil power consumption: Nominal 5.5 W to 7 W (cold: 7 W, stabilized warm: 5.5 W)

Installation and Maintenance Instructions

Installation Guidelines

  • Clean and flush all process piping prior to installing the valve. Trapped particles can compromise seal seating.
  • Mount a fine inline strainer or dirt trap (mesh width 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm) upstream of the valve inlet.
  • Ensure media flow matches the valve body marking: inlet port 1(P) to outlet port 2(A).
  • Threaded connections should be sealed using PTFE tape. Do not use the solenoid body as a lever when tightening into the pipework.
  • Maintain an upright coil position whenever practical.

Electrical Safety

  • Verify that the power supply is disconnected and locked out before establishing electrical connections.
  • Always attach the protective grounding conductor and confirm electrical continuity between the ground pin and the valve body / core guide tube.
  • Never energize the solenoid coil when it is detached from the core guide tube or without the armature assembled; dry energization leads to rapid overheating and irreversible coil burnout.
  • Tighten the top fastening nut to a maximum torque of 2.8 Nm. Tighten the Type 2507 plug center screw to 0.3 Nm.

Oxygen and High-Purity Service

  • BURKERT 20079888 is certified under variable code NL02 for gaseous oxygen service, featuring non-metallic materials tested by BAM (Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung).
  • The valve is processed, degreased, and hermetically packaged under specification DIS 1000020797 to eliminate residual oils, greases, and silicones.
  • Unpack the valve only immediately before installation in a clean environment to prevent hydrocarbon contamination.

While article 20079888 specifies an NPT 1/8 threaded stainless steel configuration, Type 7011 is available in related body materials and connection geometries sharing the same functional platform.
