BURKERT 20114511 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island for Pneumatics

Burkert Type 8640 modular valve island for pneumatics. Features AirLINE Quick integration, up to 24 valve slots, and flexible fieldbus or multipole connectivity.

BURKERT 20114511 Type 8640 Modular Valve Island for Pneumatics

Burkert Type 8640 modular valve island system is designed to solve diverse and complex control problems due to its systematic modular construction and combination of pneumatic and electrical interfaces. By putting together a row of pneumatic modules with different numbers of valves, 2 to 24 valve functionalities may be realized on one valve unit. Electrical connectivity is achieved by either fieldbus interfaces, common connection (parallel connection technique) or multipin interfaces. The valves allow different applications to be covered, with bodies and connection modules made of high-quality plastic (polyamide) that are easy to assemble by means of built-in snap connectors.

Compatible Solenoid Valves

The Type 8640 valve island can be combined with various pilot valves depending on the required width and performance:

  • Type 6524 and Type 6525: 11 mm width, 3/2 and 5/2-way valves.
  • Type 0460: 11 mm width, 5/2-way and 5/3-way bistable valves (aluminium body).
  • Type 6526 and Type 6527: 16.5 mm width, 3/2 and 5/2-way valves.
  • Type 5470: 18 mm / 19 mm width, 3/2-way and 4/2-way valves.

AirLINE Quick

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

Advantages:

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet.
  • Makes it possible to use more compact control cabinets.
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet.

Product Connections

Electrical connectivity is highly flexible, supporting multiple standards:

  • Collective connection module: Connection via individual stranded wires, looped-through ground potential, max. 24 valves, IP20, screw-type terminals.
  • Multi-pin module: Electrical connection plug D-Sub (25-pin), max. 24 valves, IP20.
  • Fieldbus modules: Supports PROFIBUS DP, PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP. Max. 24 valves and max. 32 digital inputs (in connection with EME module).

Installation and Safety

Risk of Electric Shock

Switch off voltage before working on the device or system. Secure against reactivation. When installing, make sure that the coil is firmly seated on the valve body so the protective conductor connection of the coil is connected to the valve body.

High Pressure Hazard

Risk of injury due to high pressure and escaping medium. Switch off the pressure before working on the device or system. Vent or drain the pipes. Before applying pressure to the valve, check all hose connections and fittings for tight, secure fit.

Electrostatic Sensitive Components

The device contains electronic components that are susceptible to the effects of electrostatic discharging (ESD). Meet the requirements specified by EN 61340-5-1 to minimise or avoid the possibility of damage caused by sudden electrostatic discharge.
