BURKERT 20140437 Type 8652 Valve Island for Process Automation

BURKERT 20140437 Type 8652 valve island (20-bank). Features Industrial Ethernet, ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 approval, LC display diagnostics, and AirLINE Quick adapter.

BURKERT 20140437 Type 8652 Valve Island for Process Automation

BURKERT 20140437 Type 8652 AirLINE valve island has been especially developed for process automation requirements. This specific configuration features a 20-bank setup (20x 3/2-way WWC valves) with Industrial Ethernet protocols (PROFINET IO, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, EtherCAT, CC-Link IE Field Basic). New diagnostic functions can be visualised on the LC display, both in clear text as well as symbols. This makes it easy to relate to the shown messages and helps to save time during start-up and maintenance. Furthermore, the diagnostic message is also available at the controller, enabling a fast overview of the plant status.

The hardware is optimised for installation at the bottom of the control cabinet via the included Aluminium AirLINE Quick adapter, though installation on a standard rail is also possible. Key pneumatic functions ensure increased process reliability, such as check valves in the exhaust air ducts that prevent unplanned actuation due to pressure peaks. This model is certified for hazardous locations with ATEX/IECEx Zone 2 approvals (Ex ec IIC Gc, Ex tc IIIC Dc).

AirLINE Quick

AirLINE Quick considerably reduces the use of components in the control cabinet. With the AirLINE Quick Adapter, the valve terminal is adapted directly to the control cabinet floor or control cabinet wall.

Advantages

  • Reduced space requirement in the control cabinet
  • This makes it possible to use more compact control cabinets
  • Reduced installation effort due to hose connections directly at the bottom of the control cabinet

Circuit Functions

The valve island supports various circuit functions using Type 6534 solenoid valves. The standard functions include:

  • C (CF C): 3/2-way solenoid valve, normally closed
  • D (CF D): 2 × 3/2-way solenoid valve, normally open
  • H (CF H): 5/2-way solenoid valve
  • L (CF L): 5/3-way solenoid valve, all ports locked in middle position
  • M (CF M): 5/3-way solenoid valve, ports 2 and 4 ventilated in middle position
  • N (CF N): 5/3-way solenoid valve, ports 2 and 4 exhausted in middle position
  • Z (CF Z): 5/2-way solenoid valve, impulse variant

Type 6534 valves are available in an SIA variant equipped with additional connection terminals. A valve circuit can therefore be interrupted by an external switch. Manual override is not required for these valve variants. To use the shut-off function, connect the terminal to a potential-free contact (mechanical switch or relay).

Approvals and Conformities

  • Explosion Protection: ATEX (II 3G Ex ec IIC Gc, II 3D Ex tc IIIC Dc) and IECEx (Ex ec IIC Gc, Ex tc IIIC Dc). Suitable for Zone 2/22.
  • North America: Optional UL Listed (UL 61010-1) and UL Recognized for Hazardous Locations (Class I, Zone 2; Class II, Zone 22; Class I, Div 2).
  • Other: China Compulsory Certification (CCC) for hazardous applications.

Supplementary Instructions for EX Areas

Danger from electrical voltage

  • Before intervening in the device or system, switch off the power supply and secure to prevent reactivation.
  • In an existing explosive atmosphere, the connection terminals for 24 V supply, SIA, EVS, and digital inputs may only be plugged in or unplugged when the power is switched off.
  • The use of the hot-swap function is prohibited in an existing explosive atmosphere.

Danger of explosion due to electrostatic charge

  • Take appropriate measures to ensure that no electrostatic charges can build up in the potentially explosive area.
  • Only clean the device surface by wiping it gently with a damp or antistatic cloth.
