Product Introduction

Spirax Sarco SX80 process controller is a 1/16 DIN panel-mounted controller designed for single and multiple setpoint control applications. It can be used in conjunction with Spirax Sarco pneumatic / electric control valves and associated electronic and electrical equipment. Each controller provides both VMD (3-point valve motor drive) and analogue (4–20 mA) outputs, and incorporates convenient quick start codes to make on-site commissioning simple and efficient.

  1. Installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance must be carried out only by suitably qualified personnel.
  2. All wiring and settings must strictly follow the product parameters and safety information given in the installation and commissioning manual to avoid damage or malfunction.
  3. Power input is 100–230 Vac ±15%, 48–62 Hz. Connect L (live) and N (neutral) correctly to the designated terminals.

Key wiring schemes

  1. Sensor input wiring: Supports thermocouples, Pt100 RTDs and other sensors via the VI terminal, using a 2.49 Ω resistor where required.
  2. 4–20 mA transmitter wiring: Use the internal 18 V ±15% transmitter supply via the V+ and V- terminals to power the transmitter. The signal should be wired with screened cable to the appropriate input terminals to ensure stable transmission.
  3. Relay output wiring: The IO1 relay output provides a normally open contact via the 1A and 1B terminals for driving external actuators, with a maximum load of 2 A at 264 Vac (resistive).
  4. Isolated DC output wiring: The isolated analogue output provides 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA to drive related control equipment, with a resolution of 13.5 bits.
