Stainless SteelTight Shut-OffNo-Load Sealing

TLV SS1VG-R Free Float Drain Trap for Air and Inert Gas

The TLV SS1VG-R is a stainless steel free float drain trap designed for air and inert gas systems. Features tight shut-off with a rubber orifice and three-point seating, operating up to 10 barg.

TLV SS1VG-R Free Float Drain Trap for Air and Inert Gas

The TLV SS1VG-R is a stainless steel free float drain trap designed for air and inert gas systems. Featuring a rubber orifice and three-point seating, it provides a tight seal even under no-load conditions. The self-modulating free float ensures continuous, smooth, and low-velocity condensate discharge as process loads vary. A related model, the SS1VG-M, features a metal orifice for higher pressure and temperature applications.

Safety Considerations

WARNING

DO NOT use for toxic, flammable or otherwise hazardous fluids. This product is a drain trap that discharges condensate from air or inert gas systems. Use only for air or inert gas.

DANGER

NEVER apply direct heat to the float. The float may explode due to increased internal pressure, causing accidents leading to serious injury or damage to property and equipment.

WARNING

Install properly and DO NOT use this product outside the recommended operating pressure, temperature and other specification ranges. DO NOT use this product in excess of the maximum operating pressure differential; such use could make discharge impossible.

Specifications

Refer to the product nameplate for detailed specifications. Minimum required condensate load for the SS1VG-M (metal valve seat) is 0.5 kg/h (1 lb/h) to maintain a liquid seal. The SS1VG-R requires 0 kg/h for tight sealing.

Proper Installation

  1. Before installation, remove all protective seals.
  2. Open the inlet valve and blow out the piping to remove any piping scraps, dirt and oil. Close the inlet valve after blowdown.
  3. Install the product so the arrow on the body is pointing in the direction of flow.
  4. To prevent air binding, inlet piping must be straight, vertical, as short as possible and with a minimum nominal diameter of 15 mm (1/2 in). If a length of horizontal piping is unavoidable, it must be kept short.

TLV SS1VG-R TLV SS1VG-R pressure balancing line installation

  1. The product must be installed vertically, inclined no more than 5° horizontally and front-to-back.

TLV SS1VG-R TLV SS1VG-R installation angle

  1. Install a condensate outlet valve and outlet piping.
  2. Open the inlet and outlet valves, make sure that the product functions properly.

Inspection and Maintenance

A visual inspection should be done on a daily basis to determine whether the product is operating properly. Periodically (at least biannually) the operation should also be checked by using diagnostic equipment.

Disassembly and Reassembly

WARNING

When disassembling or removing the product, wait until the internal pressure equals atmospheric pressure and the surface of the product has cooled to room temperature.

Torque values for reassembly:

  • Cover Bolt: 45 N·m (17 mm socket)
  • Valve Seat: 15 N·m (13 mm socket)
  • Screw (Screen): 0.3 N·m (Philips screwdriver)

INFO

NOTE: Do not change the position of the float guides. Tight sealing cannot be guaranteed if the float guides have been moved out of position.

  1. Line numbers within the graph refer to orifice numbers.
  2. Differential pressure is the difference between the inlet and outlet pressure of the trap.
  3. The chart is applicable to condensate below 100°C.
  4. The discharge capacity is for a liquid with specific gravity of 1.
  5. Recommended safety factor: at least 1.5.
